Josh Kline No Longer Part Of Trade Between Eagles & Patriots, Could Be Cut By Patriots Instead

Update:

ESPN’s Adam Schefter reports that the Eagles are already in “deep discussions” to trade newly acquired OL Josh Kline.

  • Eliot Shorr-Parks mentions that the Eagles are particularly looking for skill position players such as running backs and receivers, but doesn’t say that this what they’re targeting in this specific trade.

Philadelphia just acquired Kline and a 2018 fourth-round pick that can become a third-round selection in a trade with the Patriots for CB Eric Rowe.

The Eagles have been very aggressive in the trade market this year, so it appears as though they’re still looking to add future picks to build their team.

Kline, 26, signed on with the Patriots as an undrafted free agent out of Kent State back in 2013. He was on and off of the team’s practice squad during his first year, but wound up appearing in 12 games for them last year.

Kline was in the final year of his three-year, $1.485 million rookie contract when New England signed him to a two-year, $3.3 million extension. He stands to make base salaries of Kline $950,000 in 2016 and another $1.4 million in 2017.

In 2015, Kline appeared in 14 games for the Patriots and was rated by Pro Football Focus as the No. 37 guard out of 81 qualifying players.
