Eagles Discussing A Contract Extension With QB Sam Bradford

Following the conclusion of the first round, Eagles HC Chip Kelly told reporters that they are have had discussions with QB Sam Bradford‘s agent, Tom Condon, regarding a contract extension, per Mark Eckel of NJ.com.

Multiple reports have said the Eagles offered Bradford to the Buccaneers as part of their trade package to move up to No. 1 overall. On top of that, Bradford’s name came up as a potential trade piece that could be flipped to the Browns for a first-round pick, which would then be used to trade up with the Buccaneers.

However, Kelly did his best to dismiss the notion that he tried to trade Bradford or any other players on the team’s roster.

“We never discussed players,” said Kelly.

Previous reports have said that Bradford would prefer to play out the season before seriously discussing a contract extension, as this would allow him to rebuild his value.

Bradford, 27, has yet to live up to his draft status and is coming off of back-to-back ACL tears, so there are some serious concerns/question marks about him moving forward.

He has one year remaining on his six-year, $78 million contract that included $50 million guaranteed. Bradford stands to make a base salary of $12.985 million for the 2015 season to go along with a cap figure of $12.985 million.

Bradford last appeared in an NFL game during the 2013 season. He finished the year throwing for 1,687 yards while completing 60.7 percent of his passes to go along with 14 touchdowns and four interceptions over the course of seven games.

We’ll have more regarding Bradford and a new deal with the Eagles as the news is available.
