Eagles & DL Cedric Thornton Believed To Be Working On A Multi-Year Deal

Mark Eckel of NJ.com, citing a person with knowledge of the situation, reports that the Eagles and DL Cedric Thornton are believed to be working on a multi-year contract.

Philadelphia placed a second-round tender on Thornton back in early March. However, Thornton has yet to sign his restricted tender

It would cost a prospective team a second-round pick to the sign Thornton away from the Eagles, but Eckel can’t see anyone willing to part with that kind of compensation for Thornton.

Thornton, 26, signed on with the Eagles as an undrafted free agent out of Southern Arkansas back in 2011.

Last year, Thornton appeared in 16 games and recorded 52 tackles, one sack, three fumbles recoveries, and two pass defenses. Pro Football Focus has him rated as the No. 20 defensive end in a 3-4 defense out of 47 qualifying players in 2014.
