Report: Eagles At Odds With WR Jeremy Maclin Over Length Of New Contract

Mike Florio of Pro Football Talk reports that Eagles WR Jeremy Maclin is looking for a one-year agreement that will allow him to reestablish his value next year.

However, the Eagles reportedly want a multi-year agreement. Florio adds that Philadelphia is willing to offer him a “legitimate multi-year contract” that would also include a “significant option bonus” in 2015.

Maclin tore his ACL last July, forcing him to miss all of last season, which explains the “show me” contract. It also implies that Maclin will need to demonstrate that he is healthy and can perform before the Eagles make a longer commitment.

The 25 year-old Missouri product caught 69 passes on 122 targets for 857 yards in 2012.  Those numbers, of course, came before the arrival of Head Coach Chip Kelly, and his fast-paced offense. Maclin could be in a perfect situation to put up lofty numbers with QB Nick Foles before hitting free agency again after next season.

The Philadelphia Eagles have announced contract extensions for WR Riley Cooper and C Jason Kelce this morning.

However, ESPN’s Adam Schefter reports that an agreement between the Eagles and WR Jeremy Maclin is not close at this point in time. The two sides are reportedly still talking.

• Adam Calpan reports that Malcin is next in line for a new contract, but adds that four to six teams could have interest in him if he reaches the open market in the next few weeks.
• Ian Rapoport reports that there is a “lot of optimism” regarding a new contract for Maclin.

Jeff McLane of the Philadelphia Enquirer is reporting that the Eagles are expected to sign impending free agent WR Jeremy Maclin to a one-year “show me” deal.

• McLane also reports that the Eagles and WR Riley Cooper are also “close to agreeing to a new contract” that is widely expected to be a multi-year deal.
• A contract extension could also be coming for C Jason Kelce as early as tomorrow, according to McLane.
