Eagles To Explore Trade Market For Vinny Curry After Adding Michael Bennett?

Adam Schefter points out that the Eagles can now explore the trade for DE Vinny Curry now that they’ve agreed to a deal with the Seahawks for DE Michael Bennett.

A report surfaced a few days ago that the Eagles are expected to release Curry, but things apparently changed and they were instead negotiating to keep him. However, the addition of Bennett makes it clear that Curry’s time in Philadelphia almost certainly coming to an end one way or another.

Given that the lack of available pass-rushers in free agency and the draft, it’s certainly possible the Eagles could find a trade partner in the coming days, so this is something to keep an eye on.

Curry, 29, is a former second-round pick of the Eagles back in 2012. He signed a five-year, $47.25 million contract that included $23 million guaranteed with the Eagles back in 2016 and was set to make base salaries of $9 million and $9.25 million over the next two years of the agreement.

According to OverTheCap.com, trading would free up $5 million of available cap space while creating $6 million in dead money.

In 2017, Curry appeared in all 16 games for the Eagles and recorded 42 tackles, three sacks, and a forced fumble. Pro Football Focus has him rated as the No. 22 edge rusher out of 109 qualifying players.
