Eagles LB DeMeco Ryans Done For The Season With Achilles Injury

Mike Florio of Pro Football Talk, citing a league source, reports that Eagles LB DeMeco Ryans suffered an Achilles’ tendon injury during Sunday’s game and will subsequently miss the remainder of the 2014 season.

Ryans suffered the injury while intercepting a Ryan Fitzpatrick pass during the fourth quarter of Sunday’s game.

This is a major loss for the Eagles’ defense as Ryans is clearly one of their best inside linebackers. Philadelphia is likely to move forward with Casey Matthews and Mychal Kendricks as their starting inside linebackers, but they could always bring someone in for a workout this week.

Ryans, 30, unfortunately tore the same Achilles’ tendon he tore a few years ago, so this could be a big issue for him moving forward.

Ryans is in fifth year of his six-year, $48 million contract that includes $21.75 million guaranteed. He’ll make a base salary of $6.8 million for the 2015 season.

His year ends with him recording 39 tackles, a fumble recovery and three pass defenses.
