Eagles Looking To Trade CB Asante Samuel Before The Draft

Jeff McLane of the Philadelphia Inquirer writes that the Eagles are looking to move CB Asante Samuel before the next months NFL draft.

Samuel, 31, is set to make $9.4 million for the 2012 season but McLane admits that the team is going to have to lower their asking price from where it was last August.

The Eagles have had success in the past finding trade partners while attending the annual NFL owners meetings so despite Samuel’s contract, there’s still a chance that they’ll find a some amount of interest in him. Philadelphia was reportedly close to dealing him to the Lions last year and since then, the cornerback position is even more of a need for them.

  1. Maybe you should see the trades we make. Stole a 2nd rounder from Miami for a bum 2 years ago stole a 2nd rounder and a stud cb under low contract from az for a bum both unproven. We will get a good price for a still top 15 cb in Samuel. Don’t kid your self.

  2. To Green Bay for AJ Hawk and Chad Clifton. Helps the Eagles upgrade their O-line and they get some much needed LB help. Then the Packers get the corner they need and can move Woodson to Safety if Collins can’t play or gets injured again.

    • Huh? AJ Hawk – 28 yr old stud LBer under contract for 4 more yrs  at reasonable numbers for a declining corner with one yr at 9.4mil. that Philly needs to get rid of for cap numbers.  But thats not all you want Chad Clifton too.  Wow.

      • Lol wow Samuels sucks and he is overpaid and old he is prob gunna be released tulloch and 4th rounder lol maybe just a 6th just to clear cap space
