Eagles Lose C Jason Kelce For Close To Two Months

Eagles HC Chip Kelly confirmed that starting C Jason Kelce will in fact undergo hernia surgery.

Howard Eskin reports that Eagles C Jason Kelce will require surgery to repair a hernia and could miss up to two months.

  • According to Eskin, Philadelphia is already in the process of looking for replacement.
  • Jeff McLane confirms that Kelce is likely undergo surgery in the coming days and adds that he could be out 6-8 weeks and possibly more.

The Eagles offensive line is already without Allen Barbre, G Evan Mathis and 2013 first-round pick Lane Johnson, who is serving a suspension, so this is horrible news for them.

Kelce, 26, signed a six-year contract extension that brings his deal to $40.11 million in total and includes $13 million guaranteed. Philadelphia paid him a $6 million signing bonus, which leaves him with a reasonable base salary of $1.398 million for the 2014 season.

Pro Football Focus has him rated as the No. 1 center in league this season and was especially good at run-blocking.
