Eagles Not Expected To Use Their Franchise Tag

Geoff Mosher of CSN Philly he’s been informed that the Philadelphia Eagles have no intention of using their franchise tag this offseason.

Mosher adds that CB Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie is only player they would even consider.

Rodgers-Cromartie, 26, is set to become an unrestricted free agent in the next few weeks, but applying their franchise tag to him would run the Eagles $10.7 million next season. They could always negotiate a long-term deal to lower that figure, but it appears as though they’re ok with him testing the market.

There’s a decent enough chance that he’ll be playing elsewhere next season.

We have Rodgers-Cromartie listed as the No. 44 best available player in our Top 50 Free Agents list.
