According to Ian Rapoport of NFL Media, the Eagles are not expected to trade presumed starting QB Sam Bradford, despite the news that they’ve acquired the No. 2 overall pick from the Browns.

With the trade for the No. 2 pick completed, many were wondering if the Eagles would now make Bradford available for trade, seeing as the Broncos and Jets are both in the market for starting quarterbacks.

However, there are obvious obstacles to trading Bradford at this point.

Joel Corry points out that trading Bradford before June 2 would leave them with an $11 million 2016 salary cap charge because of his signing bonus. If they wanted until after June 1, these figures would improve to $5.5 million (2016) and $5.5 million (2017) in the dead money.

Albert Breer adds that the second year of Bradford’s contract looks smart now, as it puts the Eagles in position to trade him after the 2016 season if their young quarterback is ready to take over.

Bradford, 28, signed a two-year, $36 million contract that included $26 million guaranteed with the Eagles over a month ago. He stands to make base salaries of $7 million and $13 million over the next two years.

According to OverTheCap.com, trading would free up just $1.5 million in available cap space while creating a staggering $11 million in dead money.

In 2015, Bradford appeared in 14 games for the Eagles and threw for 3,725 yards while completing 65 percent of his passes to go along with 19 touchdowns and 14 interceptions.
