Eagles Officially Name Michael Vick Their Starting QB

Eagles HC Chip Kelly announced on Tuesday that Michael Vick has won the competition and will be their starting quarterback this season.

  • Kelly added that Nick Foles will be on their final 53-man roster.

Vick, 33, has put together a very strong training camp, despite having to learn a new offense. The Eagles gave Foles a legitimate shot at winning the job, but it has been pretty clear that Vick was going to win this competition.

Vick still has plenty to prove given that he will be an unrestricted free agent following the season. He signed a one-year, $7.5 million contract back in February, so he’s playing for new contract this season.
