Eagles Officially Rule Out Carson Wentz For Week 15

The Philadelphia Eagles announced Saturday that QB Carson Wentz (back) has been ruled out for Sunday’s game against the Rams. Wentz will still travel with the team to Los Angeles.

Eagles HC Doug Pederson said Wentz was “questionable” to play this weekend, but it was clear that Nick Foles was going to get the start, seeing as Wentz is dealing with a stress fracture in his back.

According to Adam Schefter, the fracture would fully heal without any further issues if Wentz is allowed the necessary time to rest. The good news is that surgery isn’t needed for this particular issue.

The Eagles plan to continue evaluating Wentz to determine if playing again this season would make the injury worse.

Wentz, 25, is a former first-round pick of the Eagles back in 2016. He’s currently in the third year of his four-year, $26.7 million contract that included a $16.7 million signing bonus.

Wentz stands to make base salaries of $2.87 million and $4.08 million over the final two years of the agreement. The Eagles will have a fifth-year option to pick up on Wentz next year.

In 2018, Wentz has appeared in 11 games for the Eagles and completed 69.9 percent of his passes for 3,074 yards, 21 touchdowns, and seven interceptions. He has also rushed for 93 yards.
