Eagles “Part Ways” With VP Tom Gamble

ESPN’s Christ Mortensen reports that the Philadelphia Eagles have fired VP of player personnel Tom Gamble.

  • According to Mortensen, it could be announced as a mutual parting of ways, but it sounds like the Eagles choose to move on.
  • Mike Garafolo mentions that there had been some “rumblings” that someone could be out in Philadelphia.
  • Garafolo adds that owner Jeffery Lurie is “firmly behind” GM Howie Roseman.

This is an interesting move from the Eagles seeing as Gamble’s name had been mentioned as potential candidate for GM openings. In fact, ESPN’s Adam Caplan has him rated as the No. 1 general manager candidate a few weeks ago.

However, there have been no reports connecting him to either of the Bears or Jets vacancies up to this point.

With the Raiders expected to target Jim Harbaugh as their next head coach, some speculated that Gamble could join him in Oakland, but Harbaugh obviously took the University of Michigan job and put this idea to rest.

Gamble spent eight years with the San Francisco 49ers before joining the Eagles last year.
