Eagles Place CB Ronald Darby On IR, Promote CB De’Vante Bausby

According to Adam Caplan, the Eagles have placed CB Ronald Darby on injured reserve and promoted CB De’Vante Bausby from their practice squad in a corresponding roster move.

Eagles HC Doug Pederson announced Monday that Darby has an ACL tear and is out for the season, so this does not come as a surprise.

Darby, 24, is a former second-round pick of the Bills back in 2015. He’s currently in the final year of his four-year, $4.569 million contract and stands to make base salaries of $615,000 and $705,000 over the final two years of the agreement.

The Eagles trade WR Jordan Matthews and a 2018 third-round pick to the Bills in return for Darby last year.

Darby will be an unrestricted free agent in 2019.

In 2018, Darby appeared in nine games for the Eagles and recorded 43 tackles, one interception and 12 pass defenses.

We had him featured in our Top 25 – 2019 NFL Free Agents list.

Bausby, 25, originally signed on with the Chiefs as an undrafted free agent out of Pittsburgh State back in May of 2015. He lasted just over a month in Kansas City before he waived and later signed to the Bears’ practice squad.

Chicago elected to bring him back on a future/reserve contract but he was once again added to their practice squad after being among their final roster cuts. The Bears promoted him to their active roster before cutting him loose and re-signing him to their practice squad last year.

The Chiefs signed him to a contract shortly after this last year’s draft only to cut him loose at the start of the 2017 season. Bausby later signed on to the Eagles’ practice squad but was cut loose a few weeks later.

In 2016, Bausby appeared in three games and recorded 12 tackles and no interceptions.
