Eagles Place RB Darren Sproles On Injured Reserve

The Philadelphia Eagles announced Monday that they’ve officially placed RB Darren Sproles on Injured Reserve with a torn ACL and a broken arm.

This will, unfortunately, end Sproles’ 2017 season and could be the last we see of him in the NFL, as he previously mentioned that this year was likely his last.

The Eagles are already without rookie Donnel Pumphrey, who was placed on injured reserve last week, so they will move forward with a backfield that consists of LeGarrette Blount, Wendell Smallwood and rookie Corey Clement.

Sproles, 34, is a former fourth-round pick of the Chargers back in 2005. He spent five years in San Diego before signing on with the Saints in 2011. New Orleans later traded him to the Eagles for the 2014 season.

Sproles is in the final year of his two-year, $8 million contract and stands to make a base salary of $4 million for the 2017 season.

Entering today’s game, Sproles had appeared in two games and rushed for 50 yards on 12 carries (4.2 YPC) to go along with seven receptions for 73 yards receiving and no touchdowns.

We’ll have more regarding Sproles as the news is available.
