Eagles Won’t Place QB Carson Wentz On IR, Starting Nick Foles In Week 16

On Monday, Eagles HC Doug Pederson announced that QB Carson Wentz (stress fracture) will not be placed on injured reserve.

“When he’s healthy, he’s our quarterback,” Pederson said of Wentz, per Zack Rosenblatt.

Based on new information they’ve received regarding Wentz’s stress fracture, Pederson says they consider him to be week-to-week.

Pederson also announced that Nick Foles will be their starting quarterback in Week 16.

Wentz, 25, is a former first-round pick of the Eagles back in 2016. He’s currently in the third year of his four-year, $26.7 million contract that included a $16.7 million signing bonus.

Wentz stands to make base salaries of $2.87 million and $4.08 million over the final two years of the agreement. The Eagles will have a fifth-year option to pick up on Wentz next year.

In 2018, Wentz has appeared in 11 games for the Eagles and completed 69.9 percent of his passes for 3,074 yards, 21 touchdowns, and seven interceptions. He has also rushed for 93 yards.
