Jeff Howe of the Boston Herald reports that the Eagles are placing a second-round tender on restricted free agent TE Trey Burton.

The second-round tender will cost the Eagles $2.746 million for the 2017 season and net them a second-round pick if he receives an offer sheet from another team and they elect to pass on matching it.

Burton, 25, wound up signing on with the Eagles as an undrafted free agent out of Florida back in 2014. He managed to make the 53-man roster during his rookie season and played out his three-year, $1,537,500 contract with the team.

In 2016, Burton appeared in 15 games for the Eagles and caught 37 passes for 327 yards receiving and one touchdown. Pro Football Focus has him rated as the No. 29 tight end out of 63 qualifying players.
