Eagles Re-Sign WR Jeremy Maclin To A One -Year Deal

Update:

——-

Eagles WR Jeremy Maclin mentioned that the two sides “weren’t far apart” from reaching an agreement on a five-year contract, but ultimately couldn’t make it work, per Geoff Mosher of CSN Philly.

Maclin did express optimism that the two sides could work on a long-term extension during the season, per Jeff McLane.

“I don’t have anything to prove to anybody,” Maclin said when asked about signing a “one-year prove it deal,” per Mosher.

Maclin also mentioned that he has a lot of faith in QB Nick Foles and this “absolutely” factored into his decision to return.

ESPN’s Adam Schefter first reported that the Eagles have reached an agreement with WR Jeremy Maclin on a one -year deal.

  • Schefter adds that Jets and Broncos were preparing to make a run at Maclin.
  • Mike Garafolo reports that Maclin’s contract is worth a “max” of $6 million.
    • Garafolo adds that the Eagles are “supremely confident” in his rehab.
  • Ian Rapoport reports that Maclin will receive $3.5 million guaranteed.

Maclin tore his ACL last July, forcing him to miss all of last season.

The 25 year-old Missouri product caught 69 passes on 122 targets for 857 yards in 2012.  Those numbers, of course, came before the arrival of Head Coach Chip Kelly, and his fast-paced offense. Maclin could be in a perfect situation to put up lofty numbers with QB Nick Foles before hitting free agency again in 2015.

We had Maclin listed as the No. 41 player in our Top 50 Free Agents list.
