Eagles Reportedly Discussing A Contract Extension With OLB Brandon Graham

Geoff Mosher of CSN Philly reports that the Eagles have approached OLB Brandon Graham about a contract extension.

According to Mosher, contract talks began several weeks ago and the Eagles have reportedly extended him a  four-year offer. However, Mosher adds that the two sides are still “far apart” at this point in time.

One of the main issues is that Graham could end up securing a decent contract on the open market that will also provide him with some long-term security.

Mosher writes that the six-year, $36 million contract the Eagles signed Connor Barwin to last year could also be an issue for the two parties, as it would be hard to justify paying Graham that kind of money when he’s mostly been a backup during his time in Philly.

Graham is in line to get his first start with Trent Cole out of the lineup due to a hand injury.

“If I do real good these last two games, you never know,” Graham said. “Hopefully I’m here, man.”

Graham, 26, is in the final year of his five-year, $21.925 million rookie contract, which included $14 million guaranteed. This season, Graham will have made a base salary of $1,670,500.

Over the course of 14 games, Graham has recorded 36 tackles, 5.5 sacks and four forced fumbles for the Eagles. Pro Football Focus has Graham rated as the No. 4 outside linebacker in a 3-4 defense this year, which is due to impressive ratings as a pass-rusher and in run defense.
