Eagles Will Sign QB Trent Edwards

Trent Edwards

ESPN’s Adam Schefter reports that the Eagles will sign QB Trent Edwards in the next 24 hours to a one-year deal.

Another interesting note from Roseman, is that he seemed to be indicating that the Eagles will be signing Trent Edwards in the coming days.

This is interesting because the team is expected to add a quarterback and replace Vince Young but Edwards isn’t exactly a popular player at this point.

DeSean Jackson

Philadelphia Eagles GM Howie Roseman continued to talk up free agent WR DeSean Jackson as being a part of the teams long-term plans, per  Adam Caplan.

“We’re excited about the future of DeSean Jackson in Philadelphia,” Roseman said, via Pro Football Talk.

There have been plenty of rumors in the past month that have suggested that Jackson has played his last game in Philly but since then the team has been very open about their interest in keeping Jackson on their roster for the foreseeable future.

The Eagles figure to apply their franchise tag to him in the coming weeks but it will be interesting to see if they attempt to get a long-term deal done.

Evan Mathis

Roseman also mentioned that they are unable to re-sign either of OG Evan Mathis or DT Derek Landri until the start of free agency on March 13th, per Jonathan Tamari .

Both players were given the “minimum salary benefit” for last season which allows them to test the market before they can be re-signed. This is similar the Cowboys situation with WR Laurent Robinson.

Philadelphia wants to retain both of them but Mathis played well enough to draw plenty of interest on the open so we’ll have to see what he chooses to do.
