Eagles & Sam Bradford Have Had “Preliminary” Contract Talks, “No Real Progress” Made

Albert Breer of NFL Media reports that the Eagles and QB Sam Bradford have had “preliminary” contract talks, but have made “no real progress” towards an agreement.

According to Breer, the two sides have spoken on multiple occasions about a new contract for Bradford.

Eagles HC Chip Kelly mentioned over a month ago that they had spoke to Bradford’s agent, Tom Condon, about a new contract, so this doesn’t come as a complete surprise.

Previous reports have said that Bradford would prefer to play out the season before seriously discussing a contract extension, as this would allow him to rebuild his value.

However, it never hurts to gain an idea of what the other party is looking for in terms of a salary.

Bradford, 27, has yet to live up to his draft status and is coming off of back-to-back ACL tears, so there are some serious concerns/question marks about him moving forward.

He has one year remaining on his six-year, $78 million contract that included $50 million guaranteed. Bradford stands to make a base salary of $12.985 million for the 2015 season to go along with a cap figure of $12.985 million.

Bradford last appeared in an NFL game during the 2013 season. He finished the year throwing for 1,687 yards while completing 60.7 percent of his passes to go along with 14 touchdowns and four interceptions over the course of seven games.

We’ll have more regarding Bradford and a new deal with the Eagles as the news is available.
