Eagles Showcasing QB Matt Barkley For Possible Trade?

Dianna Marie Russini of ESPN reports that the Eagles are likely showcasing backup QB Matt Barkley for a possible trade.

According to Russini, Barkley can be had “for the right deal,” but she doesn’t offer any specifics beyond that.

Jimmy Kempski of PhillyVoice.com reported a few weeks back that Eagles still had Barkley available for trade with the asking price being “not a lot,” so it’s not all that surprising to hear that they’re looking to show him off during the preseason.

Assuming that the Eagles are comfortable keeping Tim Tebow as their number, and Barkley continues to look good during the preseason, it’s not out of the realm of possibilities that he could be dealt for a late-round pick.

Barkley, 24, still has another two years remaining on his four-year, $2.739 million rookie contract. He’ll make reasonable base salaries of $592,50o and $685,000 over the remaining two years of the agreements.

During last week’s game, Barkley completed 12-of-20 passes for 192 yards and one interception.
