Eagles Signing G Brandon Brooks To Five-Year, $40M Deal

Ian Rapoport reports the Eagles are signing free agent G Brandon Brooks to a five-year, $40 million contract.

Aaron Wilson of the Houston Chronicle reported earlier today that the Texans were trying to retain Brooks before the market opens, but apparently they were not able to do so.

Wilson added that there was a “competitive” market for guards at this point in time, so it shouldn’t be surprising to see Brooks come away with this lucrative deal.

Brooks, 26, finished out his rookie contract with the Texans and is now in position to cash in big time as one of the best interior offensive lineman in this year’s free agent class.

In 2015, Brooks appeared in 14 games for the Texans and was rated by Pro Football Focus as the No. 37 guard out of 81 qualifying players.

We have him featured in our Top 100 – 2016 Free Agents list.
