Eagles Sign LB Don Cherry To PS, Release DE Alex McCalister

According to Zach Berman, the Eagles are signing LB Don Cherry to their practice squad and released DE Alex McCalister to make room for him.

The Eagles’ practice squad now consists of:

  1. Josh Andrews
  2. TE Billy Brown
  3. Dillon Gordon
  4. RB Byron Marshall
  5. QB Nate Sudfeld
  6. DB De’Vante Bausby
  7. WR Greg Ward
  8. DB D.J. Killings
  9. WR Rashard Davis
  10. LB Don Cherry

Cherry, 23, wound up signing on with the Bears as an undrafted free agent out of Villanova back in May. However, he lasted just over a month in Chicago before the Bears placed him on waivers.

The Eagles signed him to a contract in July but he was unfortunately among their roster cuts coming out of the preseason. Cherry was later signed to their practice squad before being cut loose, then signed again a week later.

During his four-year college career, Cherry recorded 258 tackles, 14 sacks, seven forced fumbles, two recoveries, one interception and seven pass defenses for the Wildcats.
