Eagles Sign OL Jared Wheeler To A One-Year Deal

The Philadelphia Eagles announced the signing of OL Jared Wheeler to a one-year contract on Monday.

Over the weekend, Wheeler’s agent Brent Tessler announced that his client was likely to sign a contract on Monday as long as he passed a physical for the team, so this doesn’t come as a huge surprise.

There had been talk that the Eagles could add a guard or possible two following the release of Pro Bowl G Evan Mathis.

Wheeler, 24, signed on with the Carolina Panthers as an undrafted free agent out of Miami last May. He lasted just a few months with the team before he was waived and later claimed by the Buffalo Bills.

Unfortuantely for Wheeler, he was unable to make the team’s 53-man roster coming out of the preseason and wasn’t added to a team’s practice squad.

Seattle later signed Wheeler to a contract this past March, but he was once again cut loose shortly after the draft.

During his senior season at Miami, Wheeler played in all 13 games, making six starts — one at left guard, two at center and three at right guard.
