Eagles Sign OL Tanner Hawkinson Off 49ers PS Squad, Cut OL Julian Vandervelde

The Philadelphia Eagles announced that they’ve signed OL Tanner Hawkinson off of the 49ers’ practice squad and waived OL Julian Vandervelde to make room for him.

Hawkinson, 25, is a former fifth-round pick of the Bengals back in 2013. He spent two years in Cincinnati before he was waived at the start of the regular season and later signed to the 49ers’ practice squad.

Last year, Hawkinson appeared in three games for the Bengals and played a total of five snaps, according to Pro Football Focus.

Vandervelde, 27, is a former fifth-round pick of the Eagles back in 2011. However, he lasted just over a year with the team before he was placed on waivers and later claimed by the Buccaneers.

Philadelphia signed him to a future/reserve contract in December of last year, but waived him with an injury settlement before the start of the regular season.

Last year, Vandervelde appeared in 14 games for the Eagles.
