Eagles Sign TE Brent Celek To Three-Year, $13M Extension

Adam Caplan of ESPN is reporting that the Eagles have signed veteran TE Brent Celek to a three-year, $13 million extension.

  • According to Caplan, the deal includes $6 million guaranteed.

This comes just a day after the Eagles locked up fellow TE Zach Ertz to a five-year, $42.5 million extension, so it’s clear that the Eagles are prioritizing the tight end position.

Recent reports have said that the Eagles could also address the contracts of OT Lane Johnson, DE Vinny Curry and DT Fletcher Cox in the coming weeks, so that’s something to keep an eye on moving forward for Philadelphia.

Celek, 31, was entering the final year of his eight-year, $34.01 million contract that included $11 million guaranteed and was in line to make a base salary of $4.925 million for the 2016 season.

In 2015, Celek appeared in all 16 games for the Eagles and recorded 27 receptions for 398 yards receiving and three touchdowns. Pro Football Focus has him rated as the No. 23 tight end out of 73 qualifying players.
