Eagles Sign CB Dexter McDougle, Waive/Injured DT Destiny Vaeao

The Philadelphia Eagles officially signed CB Dexter McDougle and waived DT Destiny Vaeao with an injury designation on Tuesday.

  • The Eagles also signed LB B. J. Bello to their practice squad and released LB Kyle Wilson from the unit.

Here’s the Eagles updated practice squad:

  1. CB Chandon Sullivan
  2. DE Joe Ostman
  3. WR Braxton Miller
  4. WR Dorren Miller
  5. LB Asantay Brown
  6. TE Billy Brown
  7. C Josh Andrews
  8. DT Bruce Hector
  9. LB B. J. Bello

McDougle, 27, is a former third-round pick of the Jets back in 2014. The Jets waived him coming out of the preseason back in 2016 and later signed him to their practice squad.

The Eagles would acquire McDougle from the Jets in exchange for S Terrence Brooks during the preseason last year. However, Philadelphia later reversed course and waived him.

McDougle had a brief stint with the Saints last season before signing a futures contract with the Jaguars this past January. Jacksonville elected to him loose during the preseason and he later joined the Lions for a few weeks.

In 2017, McDougle appeared in nine games and recorded six tackles and no interceptions for the Eagles and Saints.

Vaeao, 24, signed on with the Eagles as an undrafted free agent out of Washington State back in 2016. He is in the final year of a three-year, $1.62 million contract and set to earn a base salary of $630,000 this season.

He will revert to Philadelphia’s injured reserve once he passes through waivers unclaimed.

In 2018, Vaeao has appeared in six games for the Eagles and recorded two total tackles and one sack.
