Eagles Sign QB Tim Tebow To A One-Year Deal

Update:

The Eagles officially announced the signing of QB Tim Tebow on Monday.

  • Adam Caplan reports that Tebow’s one-year contract is worth $660,000, which is the veteran minimum.
  • The contract includes no guaranteed money.

Jay Glazer of FOX Sports reports that the Philadelphia Eagles plan to bring in QB Tim Tebow and sign him to a contract on Monday.

  • According to Adam Schefter, the Eagles wanted to first try to see if they could trade backup quarterback Matt Barkley before signing Tebow to a contract.
  • However, the Eagles didn’t find any team willing to meet their asking price for Barkley, so they decided to add Tebow as their fifth quarterback.
  • Schefter adds that Tebow receives a one-year contract.

Philadelphia brought Tebow in for a workout back in March, but there hadn’t been buzz regarding him since then.

Tebow has been working out with quarterbacks coach, Tom House, while maintaining his position as an analyst for the SEC Network.

This looks like a low-risk signing for the Eagles, as Tebow could replace G. J. Kinne and possibly push Barkley for the No. 3 spot on their roster.

Tebow, 27, has reportedly been working on revamping his throwing motion in the hope of getting another shot in the NFL.

The Broncos used the No. 25 overall pick on Tebow back in 2010. He lasted just two years with the team before he was traded to the Jets. The Patriots brought him in for the 2013 training camp, but he was among their final roster cuts.

He last appeared in an NFL game during the 2012 season when he completed six of eight passing attempts for 39 yards to go along with 32 rush attempts for 102 yards and no touchdowns.
