Eagles Sign RB Ryan Mathews To A Three-Year, $12M Deal

Update:

The Eagles announced the signing of RB Ryan Mathews.

Ian Rapoport reports that the Eagles are still going to sign RB Ryan Mathews, even though they’re also signing DeMarco Murray.

Previous reports said that Mathews had a three-year, $12 million deal in place with the Eagles, pending a physical, so it seems likely that he’ll be signing this contract.

There was talk that the 49ers and Raiders could be fallback options if he decided to walk away from the agreement now that Murray was in the fold.

Philadelphia went from having questions at running back, to having a potential dangerous tandem of running backs.

Mathews, 27,  played out his four-year, $18.92 million rookie contract with the Chargers, which included $4,231,000 guaranteed.

In 2014, Mathews was limited to appearing in just six games due to injury. He ran for 330 yards on 74 carries (4.5 YPC) to go along with nine receptions for 69 yards receiving and three total touchdowns.

We had him listed as the No. 44 player in our Top 100 Free Agents list.
