Eagles Still Have QB Matt Barkley Available For Trade, Not Asking A Lot For Him

Jimmy Kempski of PhillyVoice.com reports that Eagles still have QB Matt Barkley available for trade with the asking price being “not a lot.”

This is really more of an update than major news, seeing as the team has reportedly been fielding trade offers for him dating back to last year.

Last we heard regarding a potential Barkley,  Dianna Marie Russini reported that the Dolphins VP of football operations Mike Tannenbaum chose to sign veteran QB Josh Freeman over trading for Barkley.

Before that, reports indicated that the Eagles were looking for just a late-round pick in return for Barkley. However, even a late-round pick may be more than anyone is willing to offer for the former USC product.

The Eagles currently have five quarterbacks on their roster, and given that Tebow could contribute on special teams and possibly in two-point conversion situations, he could have a leg up on Barkley for the No. 3 quarterback job.

Barkley, 24, still has another two years remaining on his four-year, $2.739 million rookie contract. He’ll make reasonable base salaries of $592,50o and $685,000 over the remaining two years of the agreements.

Last year, Barkely appeared in one game and attempted one pass and ran for three yards.
