Eagles TE Trey Burton Has Half Dozen Serious Suitors Including Lions

Mike Garafolo of NFL Media reports that there’s is a “robust” market for Eagles free agent TE Trey Burton right now, which includes about a half dozen. According to Garafolo, one team that has consistently come up in regards to Burton is the Lions.

  • Armando Salguero, mentioned earlier that the Dolphins should have interest in Burton.
  • Brad Biggs expects the Bears to be “heavily involved” with Burton as well.

The expectation has been that Burton was going to be one of the biggest beneficiaries of this year’s limited free agent market, given that he’s one of the best available tight ends this year, so this doesn’t come as a big surprise.

Burton, 26, wound up signing on with the Eagles as an undrafted free agent out of Florida back in 2014. He managed to make the 53-man roster during his rookie season and played out his three-year, $1,537,500 contract with the Eagles before returning to Philadelphia on a one-year restricted deal last year.

In 2017, Burton appeared in 15 games for the Eagles and caught 23 passes for 248 yards receiving and five touchdowns. Pro Football Focus has him rated as the No. 29 tight end out of 63 qualifying players.

We have him featured in our Top 100  – 2018 NFL Free Agents list.
