Eagles Could Trade Chip Kelly To Titans For A First-Round Pick?

Ian Rapoport of NFL Media mentioned during an interview with 97.5 The Fanatic that sources told him over the weekend to “not rule out a trade” the Eagles trading HC Chip Kelly to the Titans.

According to Rapoport, a potential trade could involve the Titans sending the Eagles a first-round pick for Kelly.

Regarding the current situation with the Eagles, Rapoport said that “it’s gotten pretty hot recently.”

The atmosphere in Philly could be pretty explosive,” Rapoport said, via 97.5 The Fanatic. “It’s gotten pretty hot recently. Chip may decide on his own.

Rapoport stands by his report that USC did reach out Kelly.

“They touched base with Chip (& Jack Del Rio), they obviously didn’t like what they were hearing, and hired their interim coach,” Rapoport said, via 97.5 The Fanatic.

There has been speculation that Tennessee could be an option for Kelly for some time now, so this shouldn’t come as a huge surprise.

Of course, this would give Kelly an opportunity to coach his former Marcus Mariota, who Kelly has said is the prefect fit for his offensive scheme.

The Titans currently have Mike Mularkey in place on an interim basis, so they’ll clearly be in the market for a new coach, barring a surprising finish to the 2015 season.

All of this could come down to how the Eagles perform over the next five weeks, and whether owner Jeffery Lurie is ready to move on Kelly just a year after he gave him full control of the team’s roster.

We’ll have more regarding Kelly’s future as the news is available.
