Eagles Waive Veteran LB Brad Jones, Signing OL Julian Vandervelde

The Philadelphia Eagles waived veteran LB Brad Jones on Wednesday, according to the NFL transactions release.

Jones, 29, signed a two-year, $2.85 million contract that included $500,000 signing bonus with the Eagles back in March. He stands to make base salaries of $850,000 and $1.4 million over the next two years.

He’ll need to pass through waivers before he can sign on with a team of his choosing.

This season, Jones has appeared in seven games and recorded five tackles for the Eagles.

Vandervelde, 27, is a former fifth-round pick of the Eagles back in 2011. However, he lasted just over a year with the team before he was placed on waivers and later claimed by the Buccaneers.

Philadelphia signed him to a future/reserve contract in December of last year, but waived him with an injury settlement before the start of the regular season.

Last year, Vandervelde appeared in 14 games for the Eagles.
