Eagles WR Alshon Jeffery Out “At Least 6 Months”, Should Still Be Ready For Week 1

Earlier in the day, Ian Rapoport reported that Eagles WR Alshon Jeffery underwent surgery to repair a torn rotator cuff in his shoulder on Wednesday.

According to Josina Anderson, Jeffery will be “out at least six months” following surgery to repair a “full tear” in his rotator cuff. Anderson’s source added that it is “very likely” Jeffery misses the 2018 preseason and they’re “unsure” about his status for the start of the regular season.

Even so, Anderson’s source added that “the expectations are to be ready for Week 1.

Jeffery, 28, was taken in the second-round of the 2012 NFL draft by the Bears. He played out the final year of his four-year, $4.54 million rookie contract with Chicago before agreeing to a one-year, $9.5 million contract with the Eagles last year.

Jeffery was in line to be an unrestricted free agent again this offseason before he agreed to a four-year, $52 million extension a few months ago.

In 2017, Jeffery has appeared in all 16 games for the Eagles and caught 57 passes for 789 yards receiving and nine touchdowns. Pro Football Focus has him rated as the No. 21 receiver out of 116 qualifying players.

We’ll have more regarding Jeffery as the news is available.
