Eight Teams Have Expressed Interest In Free Agent RB C.J. Anderson

According to Mike Klis of 9 News, eight teams have expressed interest in free agent RB C.J. Anderson since he became available.

However, Klis doesn’t mention any of these teams by name and adds that there’s still no timeline for him to sign new a club.

Given that we’re a day away from the start of the draft, it would be surprising to see a deal get done before next week at the earliest. Teams are obviously focused on the draft right now, so Anderson and other available free agents will likely have to wait and see which teams are still in the market for help next month.

The team that many have been keeping an eye on in regards to Anderson is the Dolphins, considering that they reportedly had trade interest in him this offseason. Beyond that, Miami actually signed Anderson to an offer sheet a few years ago that was ultimately matched by the Broncos and they’ve hired his former RBs coach Eric Studesville.

Anderson, 27, wound up signing on with the Broncos as an undrafted free agent out of Cal back in 2013. He signed a four-year, $18 million contract that included $10 million guaranteed with the Dolphins as a restricted free agent during the 2016 offseason but the Broncos matched the deal.

Anderson was set to make base salaries of $4.5 million over the next two years of the agreement when the Broncos released him in a move that freed up $4.5 million of available cap space.

In 2017, Anderson appeared in all 16 games for the Broncos and rushed for 1,007 yards on 245 carries (4.1 YPC) to go along with 28 receptions for 224 yards receiving and four total touchdowns. Pro Football Focus has him rated as the No. 6 running back out of 58 qualifying players.

We have him featured in our Top 50 Available 2018 NFL Free Agents list.
