Evan Mathis Weighing His Options?

Adam Caplan of TheSidelineView.com reports that G Evan Mathis is on his way to Arizona to discuss his future in the NFL with his family.  Caplan mentions that Mathis has told him that the Ravens “offered a nice deal.”

Mathis, who is undoubtedly the best available player at the guard position, is currently negotiating with both the Ravens and the Eagles. It’s hard to say which team is in the lead at this point, but the Ravens could be getting desperate now that Ben Grubbs has left for New Orleans.

Mathis was solid on the offensive line for the Bengals back in 2009 and 2010 where he didn’t allow a single sack in those two seasons. He put together another impressive season in Philadelphia after signing a one-year deal with the team. In fact, Pro Football Focus rated him as the best guard in the entire NFL for the 2011 season.

We have him listed as the #9 best available free agent in our Top 50 Free Agents list.
