Falcons Have Discussed The Possibly Signing FB Vonta Leach

According to D. Orlando Ledbetter of the Atlanta Journal Constitution, the Falcons have discussed the idea of signing veteran FB Vonta Leach to a contract.

Ledbetter projects the Falcons to keep four running backs including Steven Jackson, Jacquizz Rodgers, Antone Smith and Devonta Freeman, so there could be room to add a fullback.

Leach mentioned a month ago that has received texts from teams and coaching around the NFL checking to make sure he’s staying in shape.

“A lot of teams and coaches have sent text message to make sure that I’m staying in shape,’ Leach said, via the Baltimore Sun. “You never know when you might get that call. I’ve played in this league for a long time. I know how this business works. You’ve got to be ready.

The Ravens cut Leach loose back in February to free up some much needy cap space to address some of their free agents.

Leach, 32, appeared in all 16 games for the Ravens last season and caught 11 passes for 47 yards and a touchdown. However, Pro Football Focus had him rated as the second worst qualifying fullback in the league.
