Falcons HC Dan Quinn Said C Alex Mack (Ankle) Will Play In SB

Falcons HC Dan Quinn said C Alex Mack (ankle) is “doing well and pumped to go” for Sunday’s Super Bowl, per Vaughn McClure of ESPN.

• Additionally, Quinn also said that WR Julio Jones (toe) and DE Dwight Freeney (calf) are good to go for Sunday’s game.

Earlier in the week, Quinn said that he is “concerned” but not “panicked” about Mack‘s left fibula injury. However, it is now clear that he will not be at risk of missing the Super Bowl.

In fact, Falcons players said on Saturday that Mack “looks great out there” and that they “forgot he was injured” based on how he’s looked during passing sets in practice this week, per Tiffany Blackmon.

The Falcons’ plan leading up to the Super Bowl was to rest Mack in order for him to recover from his left fibula injury after dealing with a “swollen, painful sprained ankle,” according to Ian Rapoport.

Mack, 31, is a former first-round pick of the Browns back in 2009. After seven years with the Browns, Mack signed a five-year, $45 million contract with $28.5 million guaranteed with the Falcons last year.

Mack stands to make base salaries of $6.75 million and $8.5 million over the next two years.

In 2016, Mack appeared in all 16 games for the Falcons and is rated by Pro Football Focus as the No. 3 center out of 38 qualifying players.
