Falcons Hire Scott Pioli As Assistant GM

Jay Adams first reported that the Falcons have hired former Chiefs GM Scott Pioli as their assistant GM under Thomas Dimitroff.

The Chiefs replaced Pioli after a miserable 2-14 season in 2012. Pioli sat out the 2013 season and took a job working in the media.

Pioli reunites with Dimitroff, as the two have spent time working together in New England and even date back to the Cleveland Browns team run by Bill Belichick that ultimately moved to Baltimore and became the Ravens.

While Pioli’s tenure in Kansas City had some serious lows and was largely disappointing, Chiefs new GM John Dorsey and HC Andy Reid inherited a talented roster that they were able to get turned around immediately. Pioli deserves some credit for compiling the talent current on both sides of the ball for the Chiefs and he should be a welcomed addition to a Falcons team who is also looking make a similar turnaround as the Chiefs did this past season.
