Falcons Hiring Kyle Shanahan As OC & Expected To Pair Him With Dan Quinn

ESPN’s Adam Schefter reports that the Falcons are hiring former Browns OC Kyle Shanahan as their offensive coordinator.

  • According to Schefter the Falcons plan to pair Shanahan with Seahawks DC Dan Quinn.

News just broke that the Broncos were hiring Gary Kubiak as their next head coach, so many assumed that Shanahan could end up replacing him as Ravens offensive coordinator.

However, Shanahan reportedly had a number of opportunities available to him, but it appears as though working with Matt Ryan and Quinn was his best option.

All signs have pointed to Quinn getting the Falcons head-coaching job for a while now. The two parties will meet on Monday for a follow up interview, but they will not be able to make an official hire for another two weeks.

The fact that Atlanta will have to wait to get Quinn under contract is most likely why the news of him being hired as the team’s coordinator came out tonight. The Falcons are smart to move quickly on assistant coaches, seeing as a number of teams are still in the market for coordinators.

We’ll have more updates as the news is available.
