Falcons Hosted TE Rob Housler For A Visit On Friday

Vaughn McClure of ESPN reports that the Falcons hosted free agent TE Rob Housler for a visit on Friday.

  • McClure mentions that he’s not sure if Housler left Atlanta without a contract or if the Falcons will sign him at some point.
  • D. Orlando Ledbetter reported earlier in the day that the Falcons were hosting a tight end and a safety flying for visit on Friday, so it appears as though Housler was the tight end.

Housler, 26, is a former third-round pick of the Cardinals who played out his rookie contract with the team.

Many expected him to be a break out player in recent years, but Bruce Arians has never utilized the tight end position all that much in his offense, which could be one of the reason why his production was limited last year.

In 2014, Housler appeared in 15 games and caught nine passes for 129 yards receiving for the Cardinals. Pro Football Focus has him rated as the No. 48 tight end out of 67 qualifying players.
