Falcons Have No Intention Of Replacing HC Mike Smith

Falcons GM Thomas Dimitroff told reporters following Sunday’s loss that HC Mike Smith’s job is not in jeopardy.

“Mike Smith is a hell of a football coach; he’s the leader of this team,” Dimitroff said ESPN.com. “Mike’s going nowhere.”

A CBS report mentioned that Jon Gruden may have interest in the Falcons job if it were to become available, but Dimitroff has made it pretty clear that firing Smith is not going to happen.

“Any time there’s insinuation toward an organization that we believe in, it’s agitating, sure,” said Dimitroff.

Smith led the Falcons to a 13-3 record just one season ago and nearly made it to the Super Bowl after losing to the 49ers in NFC Championship Game.

This season has been largely disappointing for Atlanta, but their setbacks have come after they suffered some key injuries and their overall depth has been exposed.
