Falcons Interested In Signing WR Roddy White To An Extension

Falcons GM Thomas Dimitroff told reporters on Monday that he is interested in locking up WR Roddy White to a long-term contract this offseason, per D. Orlando Ledbetter.

  • Dimitroff added that he would also like re-sign DT Jonathan Babineaux in the coming months as well.

White, 32, has one year remaining on his current contract that includes a $5 million base salary for the 2014 season. According to Overthecap.com, White has a $6.325 million cap figure, so another benefit for the Falcons would be that an extension would likely reduce that number.

It is worth noting that White is coming off of a down season, but the same can be said of almost everyone on the Falcons. On top of that, White has been one of the most durable players in the NFL over the course of his career. Although he missed three games this season. His final 2013 stats include: 55 receptions for 620 yards receiving and two touchdowns.
