Falcons LB Brooks Reed Out 6 Weeks Following Surgery

The Atlanta Falcons announced Thursday night that LB LB Brooks Reed underwent groin surgery.

  • According to Ian Rapoport, Reed is expected to miss six week following this procedure.

Falcons HC Dan Quinn mentioned earlier in the week that they were concerned about Reed’s groin injury, so it was possible that he could miss a portion of the year.

Assuming that the six-week timetable is correct, it would seem likely that the Falcons will be placing him on the PUP list in the coming days, as they begin to trim their roster down to 53 players.

Reed, 28, signed a five-year, $22.5 million contract that included $9 million guaranteed with the Falcons back in March. He stands to make a base salary of $2.2 million for the 2015 season.

In 2014, Reed recorded 41 tackles, two sacks, an interception, and four pass defenses for the Texans. Pro Football Focus has him rated as the No. 26 outside linebacker in a 3-4 defense out of 46 qualifying players.
