Falcons “Open For Business” Regarding Their No. 6 Overall Pick

Update:

South Carolina DE Jadeveon Clowney told ESPN.com on Sunday that he’s hoping that the Atlanta Falcons will trade up for him in the NFL Draft.

“I wish they could trade up for me,” Clowney said, “but I hope I don’t fall to No. 6. I like Atlanta – a lot. They’re pretty good. They’ve got some guys from South Carolina on the team, also. And it’s close to home.”

Falcons GM Thomas Dimitroff offered a response to Clowney’s comment on Monday saying; “That’s great to hear that, but I’m sure he’s saying that to everyone as well,” via the Atlanta Journal Constitution.

Dimitroff also reiterated that they are “open for business” and will consider all of their options in regards to their draft pick.

“Look, like I’ve said, I’ve been very clear about this, we will always be open for business,” Dimitroff said. “We will always be open to move up and back, depends on what’s right for us.

“Again, I feel really comfortable with where we are at six, but there are opportunities on both sides of six.

Earlier today, Nick Wagoner of ESPN.com referred to the Falcons as the “most logical potential trade partner” for the Rams No. 2 overall pick.

Clowney helped his draft stock on Monday as well posting an official  forty time of 4.53.

We have Clowney going to the Jaguars at No. 3 overall in our most recent 2014 NFL Mock Draft.

Atlanta has been mentioned as a team to watch with regards to trading up in the 2014 NFL Draft — possibly for South Carolina DE Jadeveon Clowney — given that Dimitroff has made a move up in the past for talented player.

The Falcons are currently sitting at No. 6 overall, but recent reports have indicated that several could be looking to trade back including the Rams at No. 2 overall.

As for their free agents, the most notable players they have to decide on includes DTs Jonathan Babineaux and Corey Peters, CB Dominique Franks, and TE Chase Coffman.

We have Babineaux and Peters both listed in our Top 100 Free Agents list.
