Falcons Place C Peter Konz On Season-Ending I.R. & Sign OT Jonathan Scott

The Atlanta Falcons announced Monday that they have placed C Peter Konz on season-ending injured reserve Monday and signed veteran OT Jonathan Scott to a contract.

ESPN’s Adam Caplan reported earlier in the day that the Falcons were concerned that Konz’s knee injury was “significant,” so it appears as though the MRI confirmed as much.

Konz, 24, was a highly touted lineman coming out of Wisconsin, but he has been a major disappointment in the NFL. Atlanta used a second round pick on him back in 2012, but he has yet to live up to expectations.

Pro Football Focus has him rated as the No. 30 center in the league out of 41 qualifying players, which is due primarily to his struggles as a run-blocker.

Scott, 31, hasn’t found any reported interest before this, so it will be interesting to see how he looks given that he hasn’t appeared in an NFL game since 2012 when he was playing for the Bears.
