Falcons Possibly Trading Up For An OT?

According to Jason La Canfora of CBS Sports, do not rule out the possibility of the Falcons trading up for an offensive tackle in this year’s draft.

La Canfora mentions that while many have assumed that Atlanta’s target would be South Carolina DE Jadeveon Clowney, there is a chance that they could instead be looking at one of the best offensive tackle prospects.

La Canfora is “hearing” that the Falcons are concerned that the top-three offensive tackles all could be gone by the time they are on the clock at No. 6 overall.

The Falcons would most likely have to trade up ahead of the Rams to secure Auburn OT Greg Robinson, according to La Canfora.

There is no question that Robinson, Jake Matthews and Taylor Lewan could all come off the board in the top-ten, but it would be somewhat surprising to see Atlanta trade up for an offensive tackle given that they do have a number of needs to address.

John McClain of the Houston Chronicle mentioned earlier in the day that it would likely cost the Falcons a first, second and fourth round pick this year and a first round selection in 2015 to move up to No. 1 overall.

We have the Falcons remaining at No. 6 overall and taking Lewan in the first round of our most recent 2014 NFL Mock Draft.
