Falcons Release G Garrett Reynolds

The Atlanta Falcons are releasing veteran G Garrett Reynolds, according to his agent, Chad Speck.

  •  The Falcons signed Reynolds to a two-year extension worth $2.7 million last March.

Reynolds, 26, lost his starting job twice this past season and would have counted $1.57 million against the team’s 2014 salary cap. Parting ways with Reynolds frees up about 1.385 million in cap space, according to Adam Caplan, which is obviously something the Falcons can use to fill some roster holes.

Pro Football Focus rated him as the No. 31 guard in the league last season, although he was particularly good in pass and run blocking.

The Falcons recently signed former first-round pick Gabe Carimi, so it appears as though he will take Reynolds roster spot for now.
