Falcons Sign DT Michael Bennett To Futures Contract

The Atlanta Falcons officially signed DT Michael Bennett to a futures contract for the 2019 season on Thursday.

As of now, the Falcons have signed 10 players to futures deals including:

  1. QB Kurt Benkert
  2. WR Christian Blake
  3. DB Taveze Calhoun
  4. LB Jermaine Grace
  5. TE Jaeden Graham
  6. TE Alex Gray
  7. WR Devin Gray
  8. G Sean Harlow
  9. DT Jacob Tuioti-Mariner
  10. DT Michael Bennett

Futures deals are essentially camp invites that will give players the opportunity to compete for roster spots during offseason workouts and training camp.

Bennett, 25, is a former sixth-round pick of the Jaguars back in 2015. He was in the third year of his four-year, $2,418,700 contract and set to make a base salary of $705,000 for the 2018 season when the Jaguars waived him coming out of the preseason.

The Falcons signed Bennett to a contract in early October but cut him loose after a few weeks to make room for OL Zane Beadles.

In 2017, Bennett was limited to appearing in just one game and recorded one tackle and a pass defense before being placed on injured reserve.
